“Lies You Can Dance To” is a new dance work co-presented by The Marsh and ODC. The piece responds to the absence of truth in American political culture. By investigating how the human body responds to lies, told over and over at the level of national policy, the performance explores the bending of democracy that currently surrounds us and how that resonates kinesthetically in the bodies of its citizens. Flyaway Productions performs apparatus-based dances that expose the range and power of female physicality. Founded in 1996, the company’s performances integrate risk, spectacle and social potency. The dances build on physical athleticism and images of female power. Flyaway has performed at the Boston Dance Umbrella’s International Aerial Festival, San Francisco’s Skydancers Festival, the Aerial Dance Festival in Colorado and locally at Brava Theater Center, Theater Artaud and Yerba Buena.
